HIPS recycled material density
1.035-1.04 g/ml; Vicat softening point 85-104. Dry HIPS resin absorbs water slowly, so drying is generally not required. Excessive moisture on the surface of the material will be absorbed, HIPS melt activity is higher than ABS, and the molding shrinkage is close to ABS, generally 0.02~0.06%; therefore, it may affect the appearance quality of the product. Dry at 70 for 2-3 hours to remove excess moisture. The mold used for processing ABS is also suitable for forming HIPS. The molding temperature of HIPS is about 20 lower than that of ABS, and the injection pressure is 2 ~ 3MPa lower.

Injection molding is generally carried out by a reciprocating screw injection molding machine with an aspect ratio of 16:1-24:1 and a compression ratio of 2.5/1-3.0/1.
HIPS recycled material molecules contain 5-15% of rubber, so it needs sufficient holding pressure, holding time and cooling time. To a certain extent, the fluidity is affected, and the injection pressure and molding temperature are higher. Its cooling rate is slower than PS, and the molding cycle is slightly longer than PS.
HIPS recycled material products have a special "white edge" problem, by improving the mold temperature and clamping force, reducing the pressure and time and other methods to improve, the product will obviously appear water grain inclusions.
Disadvantages of HIPS recycled materials
1, soluble in aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, ketones (excluding zircon) and esters, can more resistant to mineral oil, organic acids, alkali, salt, lower alcohol and its aqueous solution, not resistant to boiling water.
2. HIPS is incompatible with ABS, PVC, PP, PE, acrylic resin and many other plastics. Incompatible plastic mixtures are separated and delaminated in processing equipment, causing physical properties to drop significantly.

The newly developed HIPS recycled materials can compete with engineering resins in some applications, and some have much higher quality than existing products. Special grade HIPS resins have replaced expensive engineering plastics in many fields. Instruments and household appliances are one of the growing markets for HIPS recycled materials, including small instruments, refrigerator walls and internal parts, TV housings, air conditioning parts, commercial equipment, recording cassettes, etc. HIPS with high impact resistance and high temperature resistance can also be used as automotive interior parts.
